In Chinese folk art, fish are often depicted together with the lotus flower. “Fish” 鱼 (yú) sounds exactly like “abundance” 余. And “lotus” 莲 (lían) is also a homonym for “continuous” 连. So, together they form a shorthand for the popular auspicious saying: 连年有余 (lían nían yŏu yú) — “May you be blessed with abundance, year after year.” May our vibrant fish complement the yúshēng and agar agar koi fish that you'll be eating during Chinese New Year!
