HAPPY RACIAL HARMONY DAY!

Happy Racial Harmony Day!

"当我们同在一起,在一起,在一起
The more we get together, the happier we’ll be.
For your friends are my friends and my friends are your friends."

I’s become a Tong Tong tradition to come up with a collection every July that reflects Singapore's major cultural influences. What would I wear if my clothes had to represent where I’m from?

  • Something Chinese: it’s who I am.
  • Malay and Peranakan touches are nice, but they shouldn't look like costumes.
  • I’d love to wear the saree, but can I move around freely?

It’s both exciting and daunting to think about a ‘national dress.’

This year, we found delicate Indonesian batiks... African batiks that surprisingly hark back to good old kampong days... intricate laces that remind us of the golden era of kebayas... oh, and exquisite Indian hand-embroidered kantha and ajrakh fabrics which we’ve been saving till now!

African batik that wouldn't look out of place in our kampong

We've transformed them into our hallmark comfortable and wearable clothes that won't look out of place in the 21st century. We’re happy with the outcome, and hope you’ll have as much fun wearing them.

Check out our Instagram for more of this racial harmony collection here and here.  Great for National Day celebrations too!

Available from Friday, 14 July 2017.
